How does smoking impact early fusion outcomes after ACDF?

We’re happy to share the news that at the Global Spine Congress in Brazil, the early results of a clinical study using our 3D-printed Aries titanium interbody cages were presented by Dr. Loïc Van Oost and Dr. Karel Willems.

The study explores outcomes in patients undergoing the ACDF procedure and compares results between smokers and non-smokers — with promising results:
✅ Significant improvements in pain (VAS) and function (NDI)
✅ 97% of patients showed favorable radiographic outcomes
✅ Even in smokers, early fusion was observed with reduced imaging artifacts
The Syntropiq Aries cage’s porous structure and ultra-low metal volume enabled precise direct bone assessment and enhanced osseointegration — contributing to safer and more effective fusion.

🧠 This study confirms the clinical efficiency of the Aries cage in the cervical spine fusion procedure and highlights how smart engineering can improve clinical outcomes for a diverse patient population.
